Sami Industries Programme

The Sami Industries Education is a vocational program for those who want to work in traditional Sami areas such as reindeer husbandry or handicrafts. The education is nationally recruiting. This means that students from all over the country can apply on the same terms. If you are interested in attending the Sami Industries Education, contact your study and career counselor.

What You Will Learn

  • You will learn about Sámi culture and history, about reindeer and reindeer husbandry, about Sámi handicrafts in various materials, and about Sámi cooking. You will also develop your entrepreneurial skills from idea to finished product or service. The Sámi culture and identity are central throughout the education. You’ll also learn to work safely and sustainably as well as how to collaborate and communicate in Sámi and other languages.

  • Parts of the education take place at one or more workplaces for at least 15 weeks (Internship/APL).

Further Study?

Do you want to continue studying at college or university after the program? This education allows you to meet basic university admission requirements and even certain specific requirements. After the program, you also have the opportunity to study at vocational and folk high schools.
